Homeowner Rain Garden Workshop - October 23rd
Are you interested in installing a rain garden on your property but don’t know where to start? This workshop will take you through all the steps including planning, design, implementation and maintenance. All participants will receive a copy of The Blue Thumb Guide to Rain Gardens.
Rain Garden Installation - October 23rd
In the afternoon, continue to learn about Rain Gardens and gain valuable first-hand experience by participating in an installation. The trainers will provide step by step instructions on creating the perfect rain garden! Prepare to get your hands dirty in helping the Rain Garden Initiative plant a rain garden.
Advanced Design for Infiltration Practices-October 24th
- Urban Hydrology; Sizing and designing rain gardens for water quality and volume control
- Site analysis, soils, locating rain gardens
- Sizing rain gardens
- Design: Pre-treatment, inlets, & outlets; Soils; Plants, aesthetics, & finishing touches
- Installation and Construction Observation; Costs; Maintenance
- Other Green Infrastructure Techniques Discussion: Pervious Pavement, Green Roof Applications etc. (installation costs, lifecycle costs, and O&M)
- Discussion forum: Unique applications and current issues: Roadway applications, winter performance, & class questions
