​​2025 Native Plant Sources

The Toledo-Lucas County Rain Garden Initiative encourages the use of native plants. This list of native plant sources is courtesy of the Wild Ones Oak Openings Region Chapter. This list is not comprehensive of all plant nurseries within the region, nor does it serve as an endorsement to any business listed. If you know of an Ohio native plant nursery that is not listed below or would like additional information regarding native plants please contact us.

Lucas and Wood Counties

Events

Lucas Soil & Water Conservation District 
3350 Hill Ave, Suite K, Toledo, OH (back of the Lott Industries building)
  1. Tree, Shrub & Garden Sale (order on-line at https://lswcd-tree.square.site/ or in-person at Lucas SWCD office prepaid by March 28th and pick up at the Lucas County Fairgrounds on April 15th (1 – 6 pm) or 16th (8 am – 1 pm), includes native trees & shrubs and native prairie seed packets).
  2. Backyard Conservation Celebration & Native Plant Sale (a first come-first serve open house on Friday, May 16th, 3 – 6:00 pm at the Lucas SWCD office, includes native perennials and usually some native seed mixes & trees, more details to be posted at https://www.lucasswcd.org/nativeplantsale.html) 


Wild Toledo (Zoo) Plant Sale - Pre-sale ordering begins April 1st 
Toledo Zoo, 2 Hippo Way, Toledo, OH
Wild Toledo will offer Spring pre-sale ordering at https://wildtoledo.org/collections/wild-toledo-native-plants-sales beginning April 1st. Prices range from $7 to $14.  Order on-line and browse and pick up at the Wild Toledo Native Plant Nursery (use the Anthony Wayne entrance, turn right after ticket booths and follow signage to the nursery) on the date specified during checkout. On-site purchasing is available on pick-up days, weather permitting.
Wild Toledo may also sell native plants at local farmers markets.




​Wood County Plant Exchange - Saturday, April 26th at 10:00 am (plant drop-off from 8:30 – 10 am)
Wood County Fairgrounds Home and Garden Building, 13800 Poe Road, Bowling Green, OH
Small quantities of native plants are usually included – 3 free plants, based on availability, more if you bring plants to swap. Gently used garden items also accepted.


Toledo Plant Exchange - Saturday, May 3rd at 10 am (plant drop-off from 8:30 – 10 am)
Arts & Craft Building: Lucas County Fairgrounds

Small quantities of native plants are usually included - 5 free plants, based on availability, more if you bring labeled plants to swap – gently used garden items also accepted.



Friends of Wood County Parks Native Plant Sale - 
Friday, May 2nd, 10 am – 1 pm (Friends of Wood County Parks only)
Saturday, May 3rd, 10 am – 1 pm

Natural Science Technology Center Spring Plant Sale (TPS) 
5561 Elmer Drive, Toledo, OH (next to Toledo Botanical Garden)
Spring plant sale includes native plants grown by the students. Stay tuned on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/NSTCANSAT/ for details.

Wild Ones Blue Week Native Plant Sale- Sat. May 10th  11 am - 4 pm, and Sun. May 11th,  11 am - 2 pm

Wild Ones Blue Week Native Plant Sale (all locally grown native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs and trees supporting several area growers and priced from $7 to $15)

Monroe Conservation District

rder using form available at https://monroecd.org/native-plant-sale/ due May 23th and                   pick up with extra plant sale on June 13th, 3- 6 pm, at Monroe Township Nature Center, 4925 East Dunbar                     Road, Monroe, includes native wildflowers and grasses in 4” pots for $6 each and plugs in pollinator packages. 

Native Plant Expo and Marketplace - Saturday, June 7th, 8-9 am (early bird, $5/ticket), 9 am - 1 pm
Washtenaw County Conservation District at Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor, MI
Includes multiple native plant vendors selling native wildflowers, grasses, trees and shrubs and many more landscaping businesses and non-profit organizations supporting their use in the landscape in a festival atmosphere.
